Liane Sauer was appointed as the Deputy Chairperson of the Parole Board of Canada (PBC) in June 2025. She brings to the Board 30 years of distinguished service in the federal public sector, with a career marked by leadership in public policy, program and project management, strategic planning, and organizational transformation.
Prior to her appointment, Ms. Sauer served as the Executive Director of Government Operations at the Treasury Board Secretariat. In this role, she provided critical analysis and advice to the Treasury Board on matters related to value for money, risk, performance, and policy compliance. Her leadership was instrumental in advancing government priorities through sound governance and strategic oversight. Ms. Sauer has also held senior roles at several key federal institutions, including the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC), the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), and the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). Across these organizations, she has consistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
Ms. Sauer joined the APEX Board in 2023. Ms. Sauer holds a Bachelor of Arts (History) from McGill University and a Master of Science in International Relations from the London School of Economics.
