Equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility are fundamental pillars of a just and thriving society. As leaders in the Public Service of Canada, executives have the power and privilege to build teams, a work environment, programs and policies that are reflective of the Canadians that we serve.
– Equity ensures that everyone has equal access to opportunities and resources, irrespective of their background, thereby reducing systemic disparities.
– Diversity encourages the inclusion of individuals from various backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, enriching our collective knowledge and problem-solving abilities.
– Inclusion fosters a sense of belonging and respect, enabling individuals to thrive in a supportive environment.
– Accessibility removes barriers to ensure that everyone can fully participate in and benefit from all aspects of life.
Together, these principles create a public service where every person can reach their full potential, benefiting both the individual and society as a whole.
The Clerk’s Call to Action is a powerful initiative in promoting equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility. This collaborative effort calls for proactive steps to address systemic inequities.
APEX recognizes the important influence that executives hold to be able to effect change as well as the importance of support for themselves and their employees through communities representing their various identities. In the coming months, APEX will be developing a EDIA Strategy and will engage our stakeholders along the way.
