John Stroud is an expert Storytelling Guide and strategic adviser dedicated to helping public sector leaders achieve clarity, influence, and executive presence. With a background as a federal public sector executive, John leverages his extensive experience to transform the way leaders communicate and drive change.

John’s storytelling workshops equip leaders with essential skills to craft compelling narratives that resonate with their audience. By teaching storytelling techniques, John enables leaders to connect emotionally with their audiences, fostering trust and engagement. The benefits are clear: improved communication, stronger executive presence, and the ability to influence key stakeholders.

In addition, John works with engineers at a Fortune 10 company, teaching them how to use stories to connect with non-technical customers. By moving away from technical jargon and focusing on relatable narratives, John helps these engineers bridge the gap between complex technology and everyday understanding, enhancing customer relationships and driving business success.

As the founder of AI Guides, John combines his deep understanding of AI with his passion for storytelling. He assists organizations in crafting effective AI strategies, using storytelling as a powerful change management technique. His approach helps leaders articulate complex ideas in a straightforward manner, making it easier for teams to understand and embrace new initiatives.

In his executive career, John served as Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Corporate Secretary at a large Crown Corporation (EX-04). His responsibilities included Strategy, Communications, Law, and Human Resources. Managing a large team, John honed his ability to simplify complex scenarios and present clear, actionable insights.

John holds a BA from the University of Toronto, a law degree and a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Victoria, and a Masters of Philosophy from Oxford. Additionally, he is a certified OpenExO consultant in exponential technologies and holds an ICD.D from the Institute of Corporate Directors.

Christina Pulickal
Director, Communications at APEX

Christina Pulickal is the Director of Communications at APEX, a role she has held since April 2024. Prior to joining APEX, Christina served in several key positions at the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), where she accumulated over 23 years of public service. Most recently, she was the Director of Strategic Planning and Communications in the Compliance Programs Branch at CRA.

In her current role at APEX, Christina is committed to fostering a culture of balanced leadership and advocating for executive health and wellness within the public service. Her extensive background in strategic planning, risk management and communications, along with her deep-rooted commitment to servant leadership principles drive her to contribute meaningfully to APEX’s mission and its community.

Outside of her professional responsibilities, Christina is an active mother of four competitive soccer players. When she’s not attending their games, she enjoys relaxing at the cottage and engaging in social activities with friends and neighbors. An avid CFL fan, Christina supports the Ottawa Redblacks, though she remains a proud supporter of the Saskatchewan Roughriders from her home province.
