Charan started his career in the Public Service at HRSDC in 2003 as a CR-04. He has worked in the role of Program Officer, Early Resolution Officer, Workplace Equity Officer, Health and Safety Officer, Senior Investigator and most recently, a Regional Manager at Labour Program. He joined the Service Canada Executive cadre in January 2021.
In addition to his role as a Director, he is a co-chair of the Regional Occupational Health and Safety Committee, volunteers as an Executive Mentor for Visible Minority Aspiring Managers, and continues to be an active contributor at the Change and People Management Workstream for Return to Office. He is a proud member of a visible minority and is one of the champions for Diversity and Inclusion for his Branch.
Charan was one of the recipients of the Labour Program Innovation Award during the pandemic.
His educational accomplishments include a bachelor’s degree from UBC; Mediation and Arbitration Diploma from BCIT; and successfully completed his Masters in MBA from the Sandermoen School of Business at the University of Fredericton in 2017.
